CHANGING THE WAY PACKAGING IS DESIGNED, MANUFACTURED, USED AND RECYCLED<\/h2>\n

Consumers are increasingly aware of the life cycle of packaging and its place in the circular economy. The strength of consumer choice and brand loyalty has required the packaging industry to reassess its relationship with waste, resources and material use. In many cases, paper packaging fits well into the circular economy model because paper is an extremely recyclable and renewable resource. Michelman’s experts develop new materials and coatings with a “sustainability first” approach that prioritizes health and safety during use and recyclability after use. Our next generation primers, barrier coatings, topcoats and heat seal coatings offer increased functionality while maintaining sustainable packaging, with options to reduce waste, provide product protection and use fewer raw materials.<\/p>\n

SUSTAINABILITY REQUIRES COOPERATION<\/h3>\n

There is incentive throughout the packaging industry to create both recyclable and compostable packaging, and there is a real benefit to the value chain in working together (from raw material suppliers to brand owners) to create solutions that provide excellent performance at a reasonable cost. Michelman has engaged the value chain and developed a network of partners to discuss the opportunities and challenges of developing barrier and functional coatings that offer both recyclability and compostability.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]
